Although the Optura offers impressive features such as manual exposure controls, optical image stabilization, and cameralike still-photo features, its low-light shooting capabilities will likely disappoint the home moviemaker. If you're going to remain...
Manual focus ring; cameralike mode wheel; shutter- and aperture-priority modes available for video; optical image stabilization; excellent LCD and microphone; takes decent snapshots.
Poor low-light video quality; microphone picks up motor noise.
Canon's feature-packed camcorder shoots very good daylight footage but has reason to be scared of the dark.
Avis d'expert par : Glenn Menin (pcmag.com)
The Canon Optura 400 shoots better-than-average videos and good still images, and it's our Editors' Choice for the $800-$1000 price range.
Very compact design. Flash for still-image capture, AF assist lamp, and headlight for low-light shooting make this a versatile model. Good still-image capture. Many manual controls, including audio recording level.
Bottom-loading design gets in the way of tripod usage. EVF doesn't extend, pivot, or have a rubberized eyepiece. Flash stills unsatisfactory.

The Optura 400 is Canon's upper tier matchbook camcorder this year; though the Optura 500 is slightly more advance, the Optura 400 packs a 1/3.4 CCD with 1.23 effective Megapixels for video and 2 MPs for stills into a small body, with a 10x optical...

This year, the upper tier of Canon's matchbook camcorders starts here, at the Optura 400. With an MSRP of US $999.99, and succeeded only by the Canon Optura 500, the Optura 400 packs a 1/3.4 CCD with 1.23 effective megapixels for video and 2 MPs for...

The Canon Optura 400 is a MiniDV Camcorder with a 10x Optical Zoom.
Canon raises the stakes for all-in-one digital imaging devices with the release of the Canon Optura 400 (and its sibling Optura 500; see a comparison table at the end), which is as adept at shooting digital video as it is snapping high-resolution...

I bought a canon digital videocam because I have owned the canon A70 digicam, and wanted to have video memories of my newborn. But when it comes to video, optura 400 has the worst low-light footages I have ever seen (even since the flour-sensor era)....

I have been looking at the different mini DV cameras for about a year. I was getting tired of lugging around my Sony Handicam. My friend had the Cannon ZR-400 and allowed me to use it over a weekend. I found it to produce a very good picture in a many...

I am by no means a video expert. I've done well over 4,000 shots on various digital still cameras. Previously, I owned a full-size VHS camcorder for a couple of months that I had purchased off of eBay, but due to the size of the unit and the like, ...
