Apple iMac 24-inch, 2.8GHz

By now, Apple's iMac design should look familiar. The 20-inch model is a scaled-down but otherwise identical copy of the higher-end, 24-inch iMac we reviewed a few months ago. Both use the revamped brushed silver and glossy black chassis that Apple...

Industry-leading design; best all-in-one overall for its price; strong digital media performance; broad range of connectivity options; easy-to-use operating system.

Smaller screen than some newer all-in-ones; puny hard drive for its price; disproportionately expensive memory upgrades; lame 90-day phone support.

Apple's smaller-scale iMac remains our favorite all-in-one. And while its looks, its ease of use, and its performance are all selling points, Windows PCs are starting to catch up (at least with the latter). A few components could also stand an update,...

Apple iMac (24-inch, 2.8GHz)

A slight bump to the specifications for the same price, the option to upgrade the graphics means the 24-inch iMac keeps the Editors' Choice it earned last year.

A minor specification update results in some significant performance gains ; Graphics upgrade an option on this 24-inch model ; Sleek, polished design didn't receive an update, but we won't start clamoring for a new design until the current one is at...

Free phone support runs out after 90 days

Apple iMac (24-inch, 2.8GHz)

Easy to use and productive - as a mac should be.

Responsive, stable OS, compatible with windows programs. Ilife bundled software is fantastic, useable solution for your multimedia needs. The Apple experience

Too slow using MS Office unless loaded in RAM. Easy to use up internal HDD with multimedia -- and hard/expensive to upgrade it

Apple iMac (24-inch, 2.8GHz)

Don't believe the hype! 24" 2.8Ghz iMac is very disappointing compared to my old iMac 2Ghz 20" G5 (non-intel). Being a Graphic Designer I'm a die hard fan of anything Apple. This was before I became the owner of dismal Intel Core Duo. In comparison to...

Good sized 24" screen, Nice remote feature

Speed hardly noticeable compared to pre-Intel Macs, Not as reliable, Glitches in it's first 3 days, Struggles with multiple applications, other problems have yet to be revealed

Apple iMac (24-inch, 2.8GHz)

I must admit, ever since I started using macs in 2006 I fell in love with the OS (better than Linux), and the quality of hardware was also paramount. I've just sold my 2.2GHz MacBook Pro in preparation of the imminent iMac refresh (2008), in the hope...

Good processor, monitor, keyboard and mouse

Insufficient amount of RAM in lower models, underpowered and incredibly power and heat wise inefficient graphics card, and quite pricey (especially considering the shite graphics card)

Does anybody know for certain whether you can upgrade the graphics card in the new 24" imac? The standard card will cope but is not ideal for the 3D that i will be needing it for
