HP Pavilion Elite E9220y review: HP Pavilion Elite E9220y

HP Pavilion Elite E9220y

Reasonably attractive exterior.

Poor value and performance compared with less expensive desktops, including one from HP; adding hard drives is a pain because of obstructed drive bay; poor power efficiency.

HP's Pavilion Elite E9220y strikes out because of slow performance and underwhelming features for its price. We can't recommend this desktop to anyone.

HP Pavilion Elite E9220y and Dell Inspiron i545s-3055NBK

Today we'll be reviewing two workaday desktops, the HP Pavilion Elite e9220y and the Dell Inspiron i545s-3055NBK. While neither of them can be called powerhouses, both provide solid enough performance to handle the basic computing needs of many if not...

The Elite E9220y can also be used to listen to and burn CDs, as well as for viewing DVDs with its integrated DVD drive. The DVD drive supports LightScribe technology, so you can create custom graphic labels for your new CDs after you burn them. As with...

2 Years Strong

After gaming 2 years with it as it was out of the box, I'm planning to upgrade the video card and get a faster HDD, but the pc out of the box served amazingly for the price!

2 years solid service, never once had a hardware issue or found the pc to be slow or lacking in speed

Graphics card is on the slower side

A Very Solid Machine

Just a wonderful machine for the price that I paid, I know that sometimes getting refurbished or recertified machines is a gamble, but it was worth it to get this comp! I've had it a year without any hang ups, I'm thinking about upping the vid card,...

It runs smooth and delicious. It runs quiet. I do a lot of multi-media rendering and such, and the processor and 8G ram make it sooo easy

I do the MMOs but no FPS and would not call myself a hardcore gammer. So this comp is just right for me, but I don't think it quite has enough juice to run the bigger games on their highest settings, though, you could still play them

Recertified: HP Pavilion Elite E9220Y(NY553AAR) Phenom II X4 910(2.6GHz) 8GB DDR3 1TB ATI Radeon HD 4350 Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

Great value!

The biggest pro for me is that it handles games surprisingly well. This PC is excellent for the money, but I was expecting to have to put in a new video card to get decent framerates on just about anything, but it has handled games pretty well so far....

Slow HDD. Loading stuff can be slow and booting takes a while. Since the HDD bogs things down, the computer can seem deceptively slow at times. If you are buying this PC looking for some good performance definitely think about upgrading the HDD

Elite in many ways. Sub par in one or two

I got this so I could do my school work on it such as 3dsmax, Adobe, flash, as well as play some games, mostly MMO's. I'm very pleased with it. I would buy it again, the only "con" i stated isn't really a con because I KNEW it would be like that and...

The pros go without saying really ; 8gigs RAM ; 1TB HD ; Windows 7 is outstanding so far ; Phenom II X4 910 is more powerful then I once thought it would be ; Video card is good enough to handle any non gamer needs (will get back to this in cons)

The graphics card is sub par when it comes to med-high end gaming, but thats to be expected, it CAN run most games out, even if just on low settings, and if the program is over a year or two old you should be able to max out most, or aleast near....

Great deal

This is the first pre-built computer I've ever purchased. Been building my own for the past 15 years but am getting too old and feeble minded to do it all myself anymore. Might've been able to put one together with the same specs for the same price but...

Very, very quiet. Only noise I ever hear is from my external hard drive. Runs programs/games very well though if you're a serious gamer this machine is underpowered and would require a video card (and power supply) upgrade as others have mentioned....

I knew the hard drive was gonna be a little slow for my needs at 5400rpm so I purchased a 7200rpm drive at the same time. I planned on installing the new hard drive as the boot/main drive with the original drive used for data/backups. Unfortunately,...

Fantastic Machine for the price

Love it- I cannot believe how cheap this was ($520 inc shipping). The CPU, RAM are top rate- only thing to do is upgrade the video card IF you game. Also i got a SSD 30gb for $70 and installed windows 7 on it, got rid of the bloatware. WOW. Boot is...

Fantastic Price ; Super fast ; DDR3 ; Ram and CPU alone cost this much

Graphics card is ok for video- dont know about gaming

stock this will play all current video games at medium settings. If you want to play games at max settings you are going to need to upgrade the graphics card, and most likely the power supply. (most higher end graphics cards require more than the 300w...

delivery was quick. Looks brand new; would never know it was re certified. Booted up fine, runs very well, plays all current games at mid to high settings. Had it on overnight the first night i had it, fan is very quiet. Runs very cool, 8 gigs of ram...

All the useless programs that hp puts on that you will most likely never want or need and is actually more hassle then convenience because you have to remove it all. But that's not exactly a con because once you take the time to get everything the way...
