Getac B300 (2010) review

Decent protection, but terrible usability issues courtesy of a woeful keyboard

Battery life ; Great protection ; Decent performance ; NVG and blackout mode

Truly awful keyboard ; Touchscreen not very responsive

If you're someone who will only use this occasionally then the awful keyboard wont matter. Anyone else might want to put the drop rating to the dest

GETAC B300

The GETAC B300 is a fully rugged, fully functioning laptop that can handle the extreme elements—fire, water, altitudes, dust storms—as well as it can handle your e-mail.

Excellent typing experience. Fully rugged. Insanely long battery life. Multiple wireless options. Super-bright screen option. Ports galore.

Deep pockets required. Really heavy for a 13-inch form factor.

The Getac B300 ultra-rugged notebook is aimed at industrial and commercial buyers. This system offers near bomb-proof construction with an optional touch-sensitive screen and the latest Intel Core-series processors. We took a look at the updated B300...

Super durable ; Industrial looks ; Integrated pop-out carrying handle

Still very expensive ; Drop in battery life from older model ; The Getac B300 combines the strength of an ultra-rugged notebook with high-end features.

Getac B300 Review

Build quality is fantastic, exactly what you would expect from a notebook designed for military and law enforcement environments. Every single feature down to the touchpad buttons has been designed to withstand impacts or water infiltration without...

Solid chassis with built-in carrying handle ; Impact resistant screen ; Great battery life ; Things don't damage this notebook, this notebook damages other things

Very expensive ; Limited screen resolution

Our B300 also included a GPS receiver which worked well indoors, getting a lock on 10 or more satellites on my desk. Getac included a fingerprint reader on the palmrest located under a sliding panel to keep out water and debris. This was one of the...

Rugged Getac laptop takes on the Lab's Thunderdome

The Getac B300 has a surprising number of features not found in all rugged laptops these days, such as lots of external ports and a fully functional DVD drive.

Ports are secure but difficult to access

Review: Getac's Rugged B300 Can Take a Beating

Reviewers dropped the Getac notebook from desk height while both open and closed, jumped up and down a few times on top of the closed unit, and spilled water and juice over the keyboard. No prob.

Getac B300 rugged laptop

Physically imposing and well wrapped up against the element. It's impressive, but expensive.

The B300 is about as tough as you can get and still be functional. Although expensive, the wide range of optional extras will ensure that customers can get all the functionality they need while out and about - in whatever harsh conditions they find...

GETAC - B300

The revolutionary invention of a PC that was small enough and light enough to be carried in a backpack and could sit comfortably on your knees meant that business people, gamers and holiday makers didn't need ...

If Call of Duty came bundled with a features-rich field laptop designed to deal with extremes of temperature and sand while being thrown about in a Humvee, it would probably look a lot like this resilient bruiser. It's not for everyone and isn't cheap,...

Getac B300

Getac's battlefield Bond-gadget is the most incredible rugged laptop we've seen. Sasha Muller goes secret agent to find out what nearly £4,000 will buy him.

Stray onto a battlefield, or into the midst of a firefight, and sneaking a quick peek at Facebook probably isn't the first thing on most people's minds - but Getac's latest fully ruggedised laptop, the B300, is strong enough to survive the harshest of...
