Casio G'zOne Commando 4G LTE (Verizon) review

The Casio G'zOne Commando 4G LTE isn't the sexiest phone to bring to a beach party, nor does it have the sexiest name (it's pronounced "jeez-one" in case you're wondering, as in jeez-one-person-should-be-fired-for-that-name). But if you're looking for...

The waterproof Casio G'zOne Commando 4G LTE has fast 4G speeds, good call quality, dual front-facing speakers, and useful preloaded apps for the outdoors.

Its bulky build, poor photo quality, and outdated Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS drag down performance.

The Casio G'zOne Commando 4G LTE is an excellent and affordable rugged handset, but skip it if taking great pictures is a priority.

Casio G'zOne Commando 4G LTE (Verizon Wireless)

The Casio G'zOne Commando 4G LTE is a super-tough smartphone for Verizon Wireless spelunkers, but of less interest for everyone else.

Rugged build. Excellent call quality. Cool travel apps and features.

Dated software. Poor video camera. Mid-range specs and display.

Casio G'zOne Commando (Verizon Wireless)

The Casio G'zOne Commando is a good choice for anyone who abuses his or her phone, but still needs a powerful Android device that can run third-party apps.

Rugged good looks. Loud, full speakerphone. Awesome battery life. Runs Android 2.2.

Slow lock screen. Sluggish UI. Disappointing camera. Too much bloatware.

Casio includes an updated G'zGEAR suite of outdoor-themed apps, just like on the Ravine feature phone. But this time around, Android lends them a real, GPS-enabled punch. All are accessible via a large, unlabeled button on the left side. You get Earth...

Casio G'zOne Commando (Verizon Wireless) review

The Casio G'zOne brand is well known for its line of rugged phones. From the Type-V all the way to the more recent Ravine , the Casio G'zOne series of handsets are built tough in accordance with stringent military specifications. They can withstand a...

The Casio G'zOne Commando is a durable and rugged handset that is also an Android smartphone. It has a great suite of applications for outdoor enthusiasts. Other notable features include Wi-Fi, mobile hot-spot capability for up to five devices, GPS,...

The Casio G'zOne Commando is unfortunately saddled with bloatware from Verizon, and the default search engine is Bing. Google Maps is not preinstalled either, though you can download it yourself. Casio's snap-out menu is not as fluid as we would like....

The Casio G'zOne Commando is absolutely the choice if you want a rugged Android smartphone, but you have to keep its various negatives in mind.

Casio g'ZOne Commando

The Casio G'zOne Commando is designed to take a fair share of abuse. Much like the Motorola Defy, the Commando on Verizon ($200 with a new 2-year contract) is a rugged Android device meant for people who require a smartphone that can endure the...

Great battery life for a smartphone ; Very solid design

Call quality could be better ; Unresponsive touchscreen

The Commando brings Android to the outdoors in a sleek, yet rugged phone, but its unresponsive touchscreen makes it frustrating to use.

Casio G'zOne Commando 4G LTE Review: Not So Tough

The Casio G'zOne Commando 4G LTE aims to introduce some toughness to the smartphone market, but it's not quite as tough as it looks.

Rugged Mil Spec build provides some protection ; Unique software and widgets

Not as tough as it looks ; Dated OS ; Throwaway camera

The Casio Commando 4G LTE means well. It’s a rare option for active types that are looking for a rough-and-tumble device (with 4G LTE, no less) that can withstand more abuse than your average smartphone. And while it does succeed in that sense, bear in...

Casio G'zOne Commando 4G LTE Review (Verizon Wireless)

The Casio G'zOne Commando 4G LTE is a rugged smartphone on Verizon that delivers the modern features users need in a durable shell that can handle water, drops and way more abuse than a traditional smartphone.

Verizon prices the Casio G’zOne Commando 4G LTE at $99 which is more affordable than the previous 3G model that retailed for over $100 for the longest time. This is a fair price, and well worth the $50 Verizon currently charges for the old model with...

Review: Casio Gz'One Commando 4G LTE for Verizon Wireless

Casio updates its rugged Commando smartphone with a better radio, larger screen, and a more modern version of Android. Together, they make it a much better device than the original.
