Review: Nokia E71x Smartphone

If it wasn't for those meddling carriers, this would be one of the most perfect phones ever tested.

Fantastic industrial design. Hashing out e-mails (or tweets) on smartly appointed QWERTY is a typo-free affair. Gorgeous screen completely readable in direct sunshine. Battery life holds up to four days of calls, e-mails and web surfing. One hundred...

Seriously, AT&T, did you have to drop the toggle button? Still no N-Gage gaming platform available. 3.2 MP pics skew a touch towards the noisy end of the spectrum

Nokia E71x review

It's always been a shame that Nokia's E series of smartphones (as well as the Nokia N series for that matter) rarely make it to U.S. carriers since they offer great business features in slick designs. However, AT&T customers got good news at CTIA 2009...

The Nokia E71x is affordably priced and offers a long list of features, including 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and a 3.2-megapixel camera, as well as support for AT&T's various services. The QWERTY smartphone is very sleek with high-quality construction.

The GPS initially took a while to find our location. The keyboard layout is somewhat cramped.

Affordably priced, the Nokia E71x for AT&T is an incredible value for business users and consumers looking for a robust messaging smartphone.

Nokia E71x (AT&T)

When it hit U.S. shelves last year, the E71 was one of Nokia's first (and thinnest) phones with a full QWERTY keyboard to make it to these shores. The AT&T E71x, a version of the E71 which we originally reviewed as an unlocked device, is now the first...

Nokia E71x (AT&T)

A sleek and versatile smart phone that is the thinnest handset in the United States.

Stunning brushed-metal design ; Good Web browser ; HSDPA and Wi-Fi ; Integrated GPS ; Inexpensive

2.5mm headphone jack ; Mediocre 3.2-MP camera ; No FM tuner

Sending off e-mails and SMS/MMS messages becomes more efficient with the E71x’ autocomplete option, which performed well on our tests. The phone guesses what word you’re typing; if correct, you can click the space bar to insert it into your message. If...

Nokia E71x Review

The Nokia E71 was an unexpected worldwide success for the Finnish device maker, especially in the U.S. The QWERTY keyboard and S60 tweaks garnered plenty of positive reviews from both power and casual smartphone users. But upon hearing that it would be...

battery life ; great amount of pre-installed software ; good keyboard feel

2.5mm headset jack ; confusing menus ; older and less-featured PIM applications than recent competition

An excellent QWERTY device, and hopefully a sign of better things to come
