OCZ Vertex 4 M (512GB)

 

Unbeatable write speeds. Great queued read speeds.

Sequential reads aren't as fast as they could go.

OCZ's Everest 2 controller is clearly paying dividends with the Vertex 4 — this is an excellent drive indeed.

If you want to see an appreciable difference when you update your PC, then this is it. Buy a good SSD

This drive is fast!! This is the best upgrade for a PC in a long time. 480 Mbytes/sec transfer rate is fast ; Black Saturday Newegg special 300.00

Nothing much to say about this. It has a power connector, and a data connector. You connect them, and it performs. Unspectacular, but that's what you want in data storage. Solid, boring reliability.

Does what it's supposed to ; Fast

A better capacity/cost ratio would be nice, I suppose

Fast SSD ! !

 

This is my first experience with an SSD... so I wasn't aware that I had to install specific motherboard drivers for this drive to operate properly because it kept freezing up. After installing the drivers, it now works like a champ!

Computer saw drive right away. Installation of programs went a lot quicker. Boot time dropped considerably and programs launch much quicker too. Raised my Windows 7 Experience index from 5.9 to 7.9!! Came with the latest firmware installed

I was a little upset when the price of this drive went up considerably out of no where. I was happy that I got it for a GREAT price on a Black Friday Special. After installing Windows 7 and all my programs, I discovered that this drive came with 1 bad...

The best of the best

 

Replace the Samsung 830 SSD with this OCZ vertex 4 on my Macbook Pro 15, system startup time from 15 seconds down to 10 seconds. What else do I need to tell you, this is the best drive so far for 512GB under $300. Sweet deal

Great drive

 

Drive was easy to install and format for NTFS. Read/write speeds are fast and drive runs cool. No issues so far like a lot of people have with SSDs. Haven't updated firmware

SSDs are expensive

Super Fast

 

Extremely fast both read and write. Very reliable so far. I transferred 324GB of data on it have have been running checksums on it daily and it has not faltered yet. One it does passes the test enough times, I'll overwrite my old SSD with new stuff....

Why the price increase?

 

When will one of the non Sandforce manufacturers sell a 512GB SSD for the same "dollar per GB", that they do for the 256GB and 128GB models? They'd sell a lot more. OCZ, Samsung, Crucial... The world is waiting...

Good drive. Was a very nice alternative to the other Vertex 4 (the non-micron drive). Started out lower priced. I was set to buy several 512G.Ms

I guess there were so many negative reports for the other non-micron Vertex 4, that OCZ decided to raise the price on this, while lowering the price on the other. So much for my RAID plans. Thanks OCZ
