The capable and versatile Insignia NS-BRDVD is the least expensive Blu-ray player we've seen.
Inexpensive. Good Blu-ray picture quality. Solid multimedia file support.
DVD upconversion quality lags behind other players. No network option (Ethernet).

Insignia NS-BRDVD
Relatively inexpensive for a Blu-ray player; can output Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio in bit stream format; excellent video quality in 1080p/24 mode; Profile 1.1 compliant; solid DVD video performance.
No onboard decoding for multichannel Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio; subpar image quality on Blu-ray Discs in standard 1080p mode; lacks Profile 2.0 support; no Ethernet jack for firmware upgrades; pedestrian design.
The Insignia NS-BRDVD is competent as a relatively cheap, barebones Blu-ray player, but better players are coming and the Sony PlayStation 3 is a superior option for those with just a little more cash.

The Insignia brand is sold exclusively through Best Buy retailers and includes products like TVs, DVD players, and digital photo frames. The NS-BRDVD is Insignia's first Blu-ray player, released in mid-2008. This is a Profile 1.1/BonusView player,...

For me, this unit couldn't be better. In my HD DVD history, and owning over 250 HD DVD's, I probably viewed a special feature 5 times. My needs are basic. I want to watch a movie in Hi-Def. I want great digital surround.
A bare bones 1080/24fps player that gets the job done without the bells and whistles. I picked it up for $229 from BestBuy.com. These are the units that are going to make or break Blu's future success
See Pros. Die hard aristocratic Blu fans will bash this unit for being cheap

I'd like to tell you all to not be fooled by the brand name. Most of us want to say we have the big brand names because we have been made to feel bad about having a "non" big brand name item. this unit has the same panasonic chipset in it found in more...
Bitstreams DTHD & DTS-HD-MA out to my Onkyo 805 receiver; great video, and it's DIRT CHEAP! (price wise)
not a real problem unless you don't have one, but, to get HD audio you need a modern A/V receiver with HDMI 1.3
Avis d'utilisateur (blu-ray.com)
I was given the Insignia as a Father's Day gift from my kids. We got a better than average deal on the machine at Best Buy.
deep color, DTS-HD MA, Dolby TrueHD, easy setup, simple to use
no analog outs (i guess, i use hdmi), not the newest profile
