Integrated Wi-Fi, access to Netflix and other streaming services, and laudable DVD upconversion make the Toshiba BDX2700 Blu-ray player a very tempting product, but be prepared for very long waits when loading discs.
Solid upscaling from standard definition. Nice selection of streaming services. Wi-Fi enabled.
Sluggish interface. Slow to load discs. No built-in memory.

It's hard to stay on top, and Toshiba is finding itself adrift amidst a veritable sea of Blu-ray players with its BDX2700. While not supporting 3D (for that you'll want to look at the $279 BDX3000), the Toshiba player has everything else you could...
Decent networking features ; Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n support built-in ; Great deinterlacing and scaling ; Great styling
Creates lots of RF interference over HDMI ; Loud transport ; Low build quality

During the HD-DVD vs. Blu-ray format war, Toshiba was the main supporter of HD-DVD and producer of hardware. Beyond being just an HD-DVD player, their units were well known for being high quality standard DVD players with very good up conversion of...

The good: Excellent Blu-ray image quality; Netflix, Vudu, Pandora and Blockbuster streaming; built-in Wi-Fi; 7.1 analog outputs. The bad: Slowest operational speed we've tested this year; competing players offer more streaming ...

The Toshiba BDX2700 is a reasonably good Blu-ray player that sells for a reasonably good price; its disappointing DVD upconversion is its only serious drawback.
The other three services are Blockbuster On Demand, Netflix, and Pandora. You'd be justified in feeling nervous about buying something that depends on Blockbuster's financial health right now, but you can always use Vudu for the same services

It's hard to believe that it's been three years since HD DVD lost the format war. Toshiba bet the farm on HD DVD, and ever since Warner Brothers and several large retailers decided to stop supporting the format, many pundits wondered how long it would...

I’m fortunate enough to have a wide variety of Blu-ray players constantly moving through my system. While I’ve tested players with heftier build quality, speedier disc loading, and better DVD upconversion, they’ve all been significantly more expensive...

Toshiba's 2010 Blu-ray line includes a trio of players. The middle-child BDX2700 lacks the 3D capability of the step-up BDX3000 but offers worthwhile features like integrated WiFi and 7.1-channel analog audio outputs, as well as Netflix, VUDU, and...
The BDX2700 offers very good video performance ; The player has internal decoding and bitstream output of high-resolution audio sources, and it has multichannel analog audio outputs for use with older A/V receivers ; It supports BD-Live and BonusView ;...
The BDX2700 lacks internal memory for BD-Live content and does not support DLNA media streaming or YouTube access ; The BDX2700's load times and menu-navigation speed aren't as quick as those of other new Blu-ray models ; The player lacks an advanced...
Although its original MSRP was $249.99, the BDX2700's street price ranges from $170 to $200 through legitimate outlets, which is more than competitive for a player that includes built-in WiFi and 7.1-channel analog audio outputs. Toshiba still has some...

I really like this player for the price. Picture and sound quality very good as expected. Wireless connection is easy. Set-up was intuitive and steaming capabilities are good, offering Netflix, Pandora, and Vudu. This unit also has 7.1 analog outputs...
