ASUS Vintage AE1

Computer was built and use for a client. It worked like it should with NO problems and not configuration issues too. System was even upgraded with a AGP 8x video card and a total of 2GB of RAM (1x1GB)

None, except the default power supply (250W) should have been a 300W or 350W

Cheap, all the annoying wires are already hooked up (of course this applies to any barebones model), cheap CPU available, etc

Fan controllers do not work correctly in these. Disable Smart-Fan in the bios! (This may be fixed in a newer bios, but I'm lazy)

No brainer: stick parts in box, push power button, insert windows CD. This is the first computer I've built, it took ~1.5hrs from opening the boxes to logging into windows. It's been running for >6 months with no issues. Looks nice too, I like basic...

Old cpu socket seems to rule out any processor upgrades, but I knew that going in

Due to the placement of the chipset heatsink, it is NOT easy to put on the stock AMD CPU heatsink. The power supply is shipped with 230V set instead of 115V

came with dead powersupply, not uncommon for barebones on newegg, so not a big deal was planned for. However the board didn't operate correctly, Wouldn't power the fan on the cpu for more than a few seconds without turning off, and giving a Fan Error...

The "quick start" manual is skimpy even by barebones standards. No mention is made of the "AI Booster" program you need to install to get rid of the "unknown device" in device manager. One of the 3 I received had slightly "wiggly" video output....
