Acer Aspire S5

A super-thin, premium Ultrabook that hides its connections with an innovative motorised door.

Incredibly slim, Attractive, innovative design, MagicFlip has major geek appeal, Thunderbolt on board, Impressive speakers, Good usability

Poor screen, Awkward connectivity, No keyboard backlighting, Expensive

Review Acer Aspire S5-391-73514G25akk Ultrabook

High-end debut. With the 1500 Euros (~$1927) ultrabook Aspire S5, Acer wants to attract customers in the luxury segment. In order to achieve this, the manufacturer sets on fast hardware, fine materials, and a couple of interesting features. Is this...

Very light and stable housing, High performance, Extremely fast SSD combination, Proper input devices, Thunderbolt port, Long battery life, Light, strong, and very thin: Acer has done well in terms of the case. This is possible among other things...

Reflective and qualitatively disappointing display, Moderate Turbo Boost utilization, Noisy under load, No UMTS/LTE or LAN, Limited maintenance capabilities, Very high price, Given its long battery life, the Aspire S5 could have been the perfect mobile...

Acer Aspire S5 review

Summary: The Aspire S5 is an exceptionally slim, light and stylish ultrabook. However, it's also expensive: to blow us away, it needs a better screen, an Ethernet port and longer battery life — and a lower price.

Small, light, stylish, Excellent keyboard, Thunderbolt port, Ports on clever drop-down MagicFlip system

Expensive, Moderate-quality display, Disappointing battery life, No Ethernet port, MagicFlip system is a potential point of failure

Review: Acer Aspire S5

When Intel launched the Ultrabook concept, these devices were envisioned to be much lighter, slimmer, and faster than a conventional laptop, yet not sacrificing on the ergonomics and comfort. In practice, very few Ultrabooks we have reviewed can be...

Excellent performance; Very thin and light; Highly portable; Good sound; Data security hardware and software

Expensive; No touchscreen; Comes with Windows 7; Gets hot; Poor viewing angles for screen, Poor battery backup

Acer Aspire S5 Ultrabook Review

First, I have to address the storage system in the S5. A single 256GB solid state drive would have been just fine with me but Acer went above and beyond with a RAID0 system consisting of two 128GB Lite-On SSDs. Sure, two storage drives increases risk,...

Acer Aspire S5

Gorgeous design, very slim and light, has a Thunderbolt port

Mediocre TN display with narrow viewing angles, fan is a bit noisy

We love the looks and the build quality. The Acer Aspire S5 not only looks and feels like a premium product, it's extremely thin and light too. Yet the Ultrabook doesn't feel flimsy and we'd trust it on the road. The MagicFlip is an interesting design...

Acer Aspire S5 review – a sleek ultrabook, but not much else

With the Aspire S5, Acer has the slimmest 13.3 inch ultrabook on the market and also one of the fastest, but they fail to address some of the other important aspects of a proper ultrabook: the screen, the keyboard and the battery life.

thin and light body, decent trackpad, good performances and fast SSD, runs fairly cool

poor screen, sub-par battery life, pricey, can get quite noisy, the speakers can barely cover the noise made by the cooling fan, the MagicFlop system is more of a nuisance than an innovation, the keyboard is only average

All in all, the Acer Aspire S5 is a decent ultrabook, but you can get better for the money right now.

Acer Aspire S5 review

The sleekly designed Acer Aspire S5 Ultrabook poses one of the most credible threats to the MacBook Air we've seen to date.

Acer Aspire S5 Ultrabook Review

I think this Ultrabook is alright for RM 3,199. You get it in BLACK color as well, a nicely finished black too. I’m very happy to see that they done-away with the S3′s Macbook Air look. This color makes it much more classy.

Lyxig designoch smart konstruktion, Goda prestanda, Thunderbolt

Priset iöverkant, Skärmen i underkant
