Coolpad Quattro 4G (MetroPCS) review: Coolpad Quattro 4G (MetroPCS)

If you don't know who Coolpad is, you're not alone. Though its name sounds like something you set your laptop on to bring down its temperature, it's actually a phone maker in China. And while it's still a small fry compared with the heavyweight OEMs we...

MetroPCS' Coolpad Quattro 4G is a reasonably priced prepaid phone that makes solid and clear calls.

The Quattro 4G has a sluggish processor, runs on the outdated Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS, and takes poor photos.

Though the Coolpad Quattro 4G is affordable and has excellent call quality, consider other inexpensive MetroPCS 4G LTE phones instead, like the LG Motion 4G.

Coolpad Quattro 4G (MetroPCS)

The MetroPCS Coolpad Quattro 4G has a large, high-resolution screen for an inexpensive phone, but it's frustratingly sluggish.

Great price for this screen size and resolution. Good 4G speeds.

Thick. Sluggish. Washed-out screen. Poor video recording.

Multimedia and Conclusions The Quattro 4G is an adequate music player, but doesn't do well as a video player or camera. The limited internal memory is an issue. Beyond that, we saw strange video artifacts (skipped or blank lines) in one of our...

Review: Coolpad Quattro 4G for MetroPCS

Coolpad's first smartphone for the U.S. lands at MetroPCS. The Quattro 4G has LTE, a 4-inch display, and attitude to spare. Phone Scoop lets you know how the Quattro compares to other phones in MetroPCS's lineup.

"Basic android budget smartphone."

I'd say that it's a great starter phone, but for the advanced user like myself you'll be disappointed, but you get what you pay for and at$79 you can't go wrong

4" screen.

Poor battery life, no Adobe flash sport, internal storage is terrible.

Does everything I need it to do, with tweaking.

Can beat it for the price (I got it for $79).

4" screen is quite clear. Has usual Android browser and email app that works fine. Runs all the other apps I need (Netflix, Pandora, Sky.FM). Has Mobile Hotspot capability.

Camera is rudimentary. Android 2.3.7 means an external keyboard can't be connected. Video player does not work -- I needed to install MoboPlayer (from Amazon Appstore) using software mode to play videos.

Very stable

The phone is stable, has a big screen, very easy to use, fonts are large, I have access to all my social media with 4G. I also did not spent a ton of money, in the long run the phone pays off for itself.

I love the 4" screen

MetroPCS is not everywhere but I read they are merging with TMobile
