The Motorola Edge lineup has seen some restructuring this year, with the Pro punching slightly above last year's model and aspiring for some Ultra-ness....
Compact and lightweight, super grippy back, IP68 rating.
Back panel gets very dirty very easily, is difficult to clean.
In summary, however, the Motorola Edge 40 offers a very well-rounded smartphone experience that's in many ways better than its competitors, and we think it's worth adding to your shortlist.

With an attractive design, a capable main camera, a fast 144Hz display and 68W charging capabilities, there's a lot to like so far.
Svelte, lightweight design ; Vibrant, fast 144Hz pOLED display ; Versatile main camera performance ; Fast 68W TurboPower charging
Can overheat when playing games ; A few bugs within the OS ; Refresh rate has to be fixed at 144Hz if used
Motorola has managed to deliver something that not only looks good and feels good in the hand, but a smartphone of substance. The Edge 40 boasts a gorgeous display, a rear-facing camera just as capable in low light as daylight, fast charging and decent...

Motorola's new Edge 40 is a pleasure to use
Svelte design ; Solid software ; Attractive pricing ; Fast 68W charging
Historically weak software support ; Curved screen can be a bit annoying ; Unremarkable haptics ; Average camera
The Motorola Edge 40 is a competent and powerful premium mid-range Motorola phone. It has a couple of flaws, most notably the average cameras, and it’s also likely to be a victim of Motorola’s inconsistent software update policy, but it’s available far...

Moto's latest leather-bound mid-ranger goes big on power - but can the Edge 40 impress among tough competition?
Excellent performance for a mid-range phone ; Suave, skinny build and sharp screen ; Competitive cameras
Rivals considerably cheaper ; 144Hz refresh rate could be used better ; Vegan leather gets grubby fast
Not an obvious choice among cheaper rivals, but the otherwise well-rounded Edge 40 still stands out in a few key areas. If those appeal, then it’s worth snapping up.

The Motorola Edge 40 is priced around the ballpark of the Google Pixel 7. Is it as good? It's definitely a viable alternative for those that prefer a thin and stylish handset. But are there compromises to be made in order to get your hands on that style?

The Motorola Edge 40 is a mid-range smartphone with a 6.6-inch OLED display. Its specification is powerful, featuring a MediaTek Dimensity 8020 processor, 8GB of Ram and 256GB of storage. It looks great on paper, but is it great in practice? Find out...

Alongside the announcement of their latest Razr 40 foldables last month, the Moto Edge 40 was also announced in a splash of colour offering a stylish
The Motorola Edge 40 offers a bright, colourful splash of performance in the mid-range phone market, with a device offering good battery life, performance and with a nice big display. There's Dolby Atmos tuned stereo speakers to pair with the HDR10+...

Right out of the gate, I liked the look of the new Motorola Edge 40. It was lightweight, has an extremely slim bezel, was easy to navigate with rounded “endless display” edges, and has an easy-to-digest price tag of $699.00 at Harvey Norman. This...
Underwater-resistant ; Powerful Snapdragon processor ; Excellent Screen ; 24-Hour, 4,400mAh Battery with TurboPower charging
Other mid-range models have better cameras. ; Lack of cases ; Slight power efficiency
The Edge 40 may feature slender superior styling, but it still doesn’t reach the calibre of Motorola’s line of premium phones such as Moto Edge 30 Ultra. The Moto Edge 30 is, however, double the price so the newer model even if not premium is still a...

Slender, lightweight design ; IP68 ruggedness ; Good low-light camera performance
Ultrawide lens drops down to 13 MP ; No 3.5 mm headphone jack
With premium styling and a mid-range price tag, the Motorola Moto Edge 40 is a great fit for the hand and the wallet.

Class-leading specifications and features, with a few compromises.
Excellent build quality, IP68 rating ; Immersive multimedia experience ; Capable performance unit ; Clean, feature-rich software ; Wireless charging support
Average battery life ; Cameras need more optimisation
The Motorola Edge 40 packs some capable hardware wrapped in a curvy, sleek body that screams premium from a distance. The handset offers an excellent in-hand feel, great multimedia experience and relatively good performance. The software too, is quite...
