Baby steps. When it comes to Palm's mainstream businessphone line, that seems to be the name of the game, and the new Treo 800w is certainly no exception to the rule. So is it new enough, advanced enough, and badass enough to do the duty while ...

The struggling handheld manufacturer defies naysayers with a surprisingly well-equipped Treo—although its picky touch screen, too-slow CPU, and poor battery life are disappointing.
Superb voice quality. High-resolution LCD. Integrates Wi-Fi and GPS radios. Plenty of bundled software.
Poor battery life. Lacks enough horsepower for Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional. Finicky touch screen. Flimsy stylus.

Palm Treo 800w - smartphone - CDMA
The Palm Treo 800w brings the addition of Wi-Fi and GPS. The Windows Mobile 6.1 smartphone also offers EV-DO Rev. A support; a higher resolution touch screen; a slimmer design; and a 2-megapixel camera.
The Treo 800w can be sluggish at times and call quality could be better. The QWERTY keyboard may also give users some problems.
With the addition of Wi-Fi and GPS, the Palm Treo 800w finally catches up to some of its competition and even offers a better design. The Windows Mobile smartphone will be a good fit for Sprint's business customers, if the battery life can keep up.

Hoping to continue the success Palm found with the Centro, the Treo 800w is one of the most full-featured smartphones on the market. Running Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional, the 800w features the latest in high speed communication with EVDO Rev. A and...

Also new, and not nearly so long overdue, is GPS reception. The device can pinpoint your location and even find nearby businesses (give it a long time to lock onto your position, the first time you use it). The 800W is only carried by Sprint, and for...
Call quality wasn't ideal in our testing (in the New York City area). Voices often sounded a little muffled. We were happier with the EvDO service, which delivered smooth streaming video (using the pre-installed Sprint TV application) without a blip....

Business users who prefer Palm should definitely pick up the Treo 800w, which is available for $249 from Sprint with a two-year contract. GSM users, however, will want the sleek new Treo Pro, which we'll be reviewing in the next couple weeks. Check...

The Treo 800W, surprisingly, is the first Treo to offer Wi-Fi connectivity (802.11b/g). How Palm let something so basic go for so long is a mystery, but it's here now so the past is forgiven. Palm has even added a convenient Wi-Fi button to the top of...

I've got a little confession to make: I'm one of the unwashed masses who has never handled a Treo device before. I was tempted last year by the Treo 700wx

Palm updates the Windows version of the Treo with the 800w. It is slightly more compact than previous Treos, yet manages to pack in more functionality. But do more features make for a better Treo?
Avis d'expert par : Judie Lipsett Stanford (geardiary.com)
During the spring of 2007, when I was still a 700wx user and a Sprint customer, I was more excited by the rumors of a possible “Palm 800″ than I was about any other upcoming Windows Mobile device. Some of the reasons for my anticipation included that...
