Cheap, but it works

 

While walking through a large store, I spotted this unit on an endcap for $99. I had seen the Emerson EWR20V4 in other stores. In one it was marketed as an Emerson. In another, it was branded Funai. In this store, it was called SV-2000. I didn't care ...

Cheap, functional, good documentation

Cheap feeling device, lousy remote. Very slow disc functions.

The EWR20V4 DVD Recorder/VCR combo was a very cheap buy for me. I bought "as is" display unit from Walmart for $125. I ordered the remote and downloaded the users manual. I even sent away for the 8x firmware upgrade (more on that in a minute). For ...

Easy to use

firmware upgrade screwed up my machine, some discs won't be accepted by it.

It's ashame that I had to take this back for another brand, a recorder by itself. There's only one main problem this Emerson DVD/VCR combo has. The picture and sound quality of VHS-to-DVD dubbing is like a perfect clone. When I first used it and ...

The VHS-to-DVD transfer is great...

But there's something wrong with it that's so very annoying!
