Razer Raptor 27 monitor review: Making monitors fun again

Razer's first attempt at a gaming monitor is ambitious. With a unique cable management system, high-end aluminum materials, and excellent image quality, the Razer Raptor 27 definitely lives up to the company's reputation. But at $699, it's not cheap,...

Beautiful, flashy design ; Fantastic gaming features ; Sturdy build quality ; 90-degree tilt for easy port access

Razer Raptor 27

Razer's Raptor 27 gaming monitor is, quite simply, a 144Hz HDR triumph. The company has broken into the gaming-display space with a bang.

Exceptional color results. Functional and beautiful design. Restrained use of RGB. Very low input lag.

A bit on the pricey side.

Bottom Line: Razer's Raptor 27 gaming monitor is, quite simply, a 144Hz HDR triumph. The company has broken into the gaming-display space with a bang.

Paradoxically elegant and overdesigned, Razer's first monitor joins a crowded and cheaper field.

Paradoxically elegant and overdesigned, Razer's first monitor joins a crowded and cheaper field.

The Razer Raptor 27 is a very good 27-inch display for 1440p gaming. It gets pretty bright and has a broad enough color gamut to make your games pop, and it's packaged in a striking design.

The cabling may be impractical if you work on a crowded desk or need to replace cables. Tall people may find they can't raise it high enough for comfort. Plus, it's expensive.

It's a great 27-inch gaming monitor for 1440p setups, but you may want to consider the Razer Raptor 27's design drawbacks before buying.

Razer Raptor 27 review: Dino might

With its immaculate design, vivid, responsive IPS panel and terrifying price, the Raptor 27 is always aiming high

Excellent design ; Vibrant IPS screen ; Supports both FreeSync and G-Sync

Extremely expensive ; Not particularly colour-accurate

That said, spending £700 on a monitor with these specs requires either an outrageously inflated bank account or an outrageously inflated sense of bravado. The idea is clearly that HDR, the clever stand, the cable-management system and the RGB lighting...
