Avis d'expert par : David Murphy (pcworld.com)
The $599 (as of 8/23/09) Gateway DX4200-11 seems like the perfect value PC for anyone on a tight budget. It's a decently powerful general-purpose PC that offers solid connectivity and upgradability compared with a number of other systems at or below...
Lots of storage and memory ; Good upgradability
Subpar general performance ; Unplayable graphics for gaming

Gateway DX4200-09
Plenty of room for expansion; large hard drive.
Competition offers faster performance and more features.
While the Gateway might appeal to users who value storage over speed, you can find more features in PCs that cost just a little less, and more performance for just a little more. That leaves this Gateway with little to recommend it.

Gateway DX4200-UB001A
Best overall system in its price range; 64-bit Windows Vista aids memory efficiency; largest hard drive at this price
More RAM than is immediately worthwhile.
We can forgive Gateway for cramming the DX4200 with more memory than it needs simply because its specs and overall performance are the best in its price class. Of the various do-it-all lower midrange PCs out there, this one gets our nod.
Avis d'utilisateur (newegg.com)
Not a bad looking case from the outside.
Well, the machine comes out of the box with a pretty good setup in the standard config for a solid all around machine to last a while
This is the real only reason I wrote this is to tell people about the inside of the case. The thing is this Gateway was a machine that we installed at the corporation I worked at and I was impressed with their screw less design in cases. What that...

Also installed a wireless n PCI card and worked without any problems. Great computer and awesome replacement for my old laptop.
Great PC for the money. Runs anything i can throw at it with ease. I do a lot of video copying and editing and can run that in the background while playing a game without a hiccup. More than enough space and ram than i will ever use but its great. Also...
The only downfall that kept me from giving it 5 eggs was the wimpy power supply and on board graphics. I plan on upgrading both of them later but it will do for now
Avis d'utilisateur (newegg.com)
When I recieved it I was running a 4.0 on the "windows experience".After the pwr supply, video card and memory it runs a 5.8(processor) and everything else a 5.9
Good value,so far it has worked great.I put a 535w power supply and a msi 9700 video card along with 2 more gig of memory and now I have a great computer for a really good price.Total spent was 822 delivered. That also included a copy of CoD world at...
A little more room in the case and maybe another pci slot would be good .The video is what really keeps this computer in the good catagory instead of the excellent

GO DELL OR HP!!!!!!
It was awesome till I kept getting blue screens when I booted the pc
GATEWAY TECH SUPPORT!!! I was sent 2 recovery disks and when I got them the instructions asked, "PLEASE INSERT SYSTEM DISK". They had NOT sent me the system disk so its been 2 weeks since I have been able to enjoy my new pc
Avis d'utilisateur (newegg.com)
I upgraded the video card to a PNY XLR8 9800 GT 1GB and a Antec Basiq 500W PSU and now it plays every game at max settings on my 1280x1024 monitor
fast processor and lots of space and memory
I had this PC for about 2 weeks and the Hard drive fails on me. I return it and this one is fine, ive had it for a month now no problems
Avis d'utilisateur (newegg.com)
This system for me is no longer as I turned it into a project PC, first switching out the 1.8ghz Phenom for a 3.0ghz Phenom II socket AM2+, then i added 2 extra drives(500g 7200 SATA, and a WD Raptor 300g). After that I put in a 750w power supply....
I purchased this system from BBuy because at the time they were running a packaged deal PC(509.99)+19"WS Gateway Monitor(119.99)+Canon All-In-One Printer(79.99) for 599.99. Since purchase back in december I have had no faults with the system. I quickly...
300W power supply, and only 1 PCI-E x16 slot. That and it being a pre-built system is came loaded with bloat-ware so i had to load my own copy of vista ultimate x64 on it
Avis d'utilisateur (newegg.com)
How disappointing this is! I'll never buy another Gateway that's for sure!
None! A new computer should work
Right out of the box...we recevied a Windows cannot complete the installation error! Now I'm waiting 3 to 8 business days for recovery disks. Argh
