The Sitemaster Toughphone is in keeping with JCB's typical design, featuring a black and yellow colour scheme and a rugged appearance. Its hardened casing has gained the handset an IP54 rating, which means it is resistant against shock, dust and water.

The batery is accessed via two plastic screws. After the first attempt to open the compartment (with a finger nail!) tone clip snapped off. Inside, the plastic clip holding the memory card also snapped off on the first attempt. Had dozens of phones...
